Bratwurst and Sauerkraut

Ingredients

4 slices bacon
6 links bratwurst
16 oz sauerkraut
1/8 tsp caraway seeds
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup onion; chopped

Directions

1. Brown bacon in a skillet for bacon grease. Remove bacon after rendered. Now brown bratwurst in bacon grease.

2. Pour sauerkraut into a heavy pot over medium heat. Stir in caraway seeds, sugar, salt, pepper and water.

3. Add browned bratwurst into pot placing links under the sauerkraut.

4. In the same skillet, cook onions until translucent. Mix cooked onions into sauerkraut.

5. Deglaze skillet with some liquid from the pot then stir sauce into the pot.

6. Cover and cook slowly for 30 minutes.
